I had a great week with In2Drama. This was my first drama camp, and I’m already excited for next year. At the beginning I wasn’t sure what to expect, but as the first day went, on I realised I was going to like it, and I had already made lots of friends. Throughout the week several professionals came in and taught us different aspects of the performing world. That ventured from taking the perfect camera shot to using facial expressions whilst acting. Although some aspects may not be what you want to pursue, it gave a better understanding, awareness, and knowledge of them. One of my many highlights of the week was making music videos on Monday. We split into two groups (older and younger), one group learnt a dance choreographed by Cath while the other group learnt how to film and edit the shots of the dance. Then the groups switched. It was extremely entertaining, and I now know how to use a camera. Another highlight was acting out scenes with Henry Hereford as you would in an audition. We also learnt how to be an assistant director and what to say before action. It felt unusual yet exciting, as two people would read the script behind the camera while you were filmed and shown on a big screen. It meant that your reaction to the other people’s lines were the same or even more important than the lines. My final highlight was when Emma Hatton came in and heard us sing. We prepared a song of our choice, and she gave us advice. It was surreal to be in her presence. Her tips were super helpful and helped me go the extra mile with my piece. In conclusion, I believe In2Drama strikes the perfect balance between a professional and a fun environment. It is enjoyable, exciting and exceptional.
