Make a Film in a Week in the Surrey Hills

Following on from the success of Classy Future, the short film we made during our 2024 Summer Academy, we’re going to make another one. Different characters, different plot, but the same deadline – we’re going to do it in a week. If you fancy getting involved and learning first-hand how movies are made, either in front of or behind the camera, this is for you.

The actual filming will be in August, but there's a lot of preparation to do. So, we’re holding a scriptwriting workshop on Tuesday 3rd April with auditions on Friday 7th April. Both with be held at Cranleigh School. See below for more.

A new approach for 2026

For 2026, we're developing our Film in a Week project... starting with Script Workshops and auditions in April (the Easter holidays)... which will enable everyone who wants to be involved to join in right from the start. Our Filming week is at the beginning of August. Sign up now and look forward to our professional tutors helping you develop your understanding of the filmmaking process.

Who is the project designed for?

We welcome students aged 7 - 21 who are looking for a hands-on and collaborative filmmaking experience. If you want to be in front of the camera, we can teach you how to make the lens your friend. If you're more interested in the production side, you'll learn about directing, cinematography, sound, lighting and editing - and how they combine in a professional environment.

I attended the 2024 Summer Academy, and I must say it surpassed my expectations. It was truly amazing, a very well-thought-out and well-structured programme. I particularly enjoyed working on the short film, not only with a great director, but also a level of professionalism behind the camera that I hadn't expected. The guest speakers were also great, providing very insightful and inspiring content. I would recommend anyone who enjoys the performing arts and wants to take it to the next level to take this course.
